Everyone in Perth is familiar with Freo's 'cappuccino strip', but if the people watching and the heady scent of vehicle exhaust is all too much you'll find some respite a little off the track.

Tucked away in the unassuming 'piazza' next door (home to the Pickled Fairy) is a little espresso barů that has upped the bar.

At Red Cherries Coffee Bar the vibe is relaxed and the fitout is simple but quietly confident. The coffee menu is impressive and we went for an aeropress brew made with Ethiopian beans, and a flat white. They were both brilliant.

These guys also roast, and it shows. You only get this sort of coffee when you're using freshly roasted beans handled by someone who really knows their stuff. The smiles on customer's faces (including ours) said it all.

This place is all about coffee and that is absolutely fine, this place is the pick of the bunch.
