It's a race! The need for speed! Cutting through the pristine waters from Phillip Point Rottnest Island to Leighton Beach, North Fremantle, it's going to be stiff competition at the longest race of its kind in the Southern Hemisphere. Amateurs and professionals alike will be racing across the Indian Ocean and Gage Roads before finishing at Leighton Beach. With more than $5000 in prize money for the taking, enjoy the party, the live commentary and the trophy ceremony which will take place at approximately 4.30pm.
Get to the beach in plenty of time and look out for the Red Bull wig wams on Sat 8 Dec 2018 from 12pm to 5pm. There's fun times to be had at this free event on Leighton Beach, Leighton Beach Blvd, North Fremantle. Cheer on the kiteboarders as they race to shore after a 19km open ocean kite surfing race.
Entertainment begins on Leighton Beach from 2pm, with the race starting from Phillip Point, Rottnest Island (depending on wind conditions) at 2.30pm. The fastest kiters will start to arrive at Leighton Beach from 2.50pm.
A reserve day, in the event of unsuitable weather, is scheduled for Sunday 9th December 2018 with additional reserve days scheduled for Saturday 15th December and Sunday 16th December in the event of insufficient or too much wind on either the 8th or 9th December.
