Slipping quietly into a cosy corner shopfront on picturesque Mont Albert Road without so much as a sandwich board to announce its arrival, the has an air of authenticity that belies its short history. Opening its doors just three weeks ago, this fresh, funky cafe has delighted residents, who are thrilled to see inner city cafe culture find its way to their leafy suburban locale.
Living in the coffee capital of Australia , it is not surprising that many Melburnians judge the quality of a cafe according to the standard of its coffee. Paying homage to this institution, cafe owners Sean and Trudy have enlisted award winning boutique Melbourne coffee roasters, Veneziano to supply their beans. The heady aroma of their Forza blend is almost as tangible as the smiles on diners faces as they sip their superb lattes.

Be sure to arrive early if you plan to check out the lunch options, as a steady stream of customers hit the cafe from 7am onwards, making short work of the delectable display of sweet and savouring offerings at the counter, which include a roast vegetable frittata, too-cute-to-eat (almost!) bee sting cupcakes, fresh wraps and croissants.

The cheerful staff exude an air of camaraderie as they bustle efficiently across the polished concrete floors, carrying an assortment of mouth watering all-day breakfast fare such as French toast with yoghurt and blackberry compote and a burrito packed with freshly cooked eggs and bacon, Spanish onion and rocket.

The Cafe already has many regulars, including mums from nearby Chatham Primary School, who can often be seen catching a precious moment of peace over a cappuccino, or with kids in tow for an after-school pick-me-up - some homemade lemon tart or warm raisin toast with strawberry jam, perhaps? Littlies are also well catered for, with brightly decorated treats like ice-cream cupcakes.

To keep you in the cafe mood at home, there is a gourmet larder at the rear of the cafe, stocking fresh bread, coffee and other goodies. If you are looking to stretch your legs or do a spot of shopping afterwards, the quaint Mont Albert Shopping Village is within walking distance.
