The Red Balloon is a cosy cafe inside Parkmore Shopping Centre just off of the food court. They serve an extensive range of breakfasts, lunch and dinner foods from 7:30am each morning (even weekends) till 5:30pm, except on Thursday and Friday nights when it is 9pm.
I have been visiting the Red Balloon for the past twenty years with my mother as we have always enjoyed the food here. Even when we moved away from the area, we still visit regularly for a meal.
My favourite meal at the cafe is their chicken schnitzel sandwiches with hot chips and gravy. I have never had a bad meal here, that's why I keep returning. The hot pork sandwich with gravy is also just as delicious and I change it up each time I go.
My mother loves the spaghetti. On Thursday nights they do $10 spaghetti, which is super affordable for dining out. She also says the foccacias are tasty and the breakfasts they do are really nice as well.
The staff at Red Balloon are always busy but because the cafe is so small, they always check in with their patrons to make sure their meal is being enjoyed and that they are looked after. They always have a smile on their face and nothing is ever too much trouble.
Red Balloon is a lovely place to catch up with family, it is wheelchair accessible and child-friendly too. They have colouring in papers and pencils for kids and magazines and newspapers for the adults.
The decor is refreshing. They finally updated the interior after many years of it looking the same. It is bright and cheerful inside and you don't get the noise coming in from the food court.
If you are not in the mood to dine in and wait for your food, you can always order hot food from the window at the front of the cafe, however, you must eat it in the food court. Some foods they offer are kransky, fried rice, potato cakes, hot chips, burgers, nuggets and a few other options.
I will happily still visit the Red Balloon for many years, as long as they stay open and keep satisfying their customers.
