Helping learners with cancer
Hailed as a signature charity event, the iconic Red Ball has amazed guests with outstanding larger-than-life experiences, raising funds for Fight Cancer Foundation's vital initiatives and programs since 1992.
The Adelaide Town Hall will be a stunning backdrop to an evening of high energy live entertainment, celebrity appearances, a delicious three course meal complemented by fine wines, and the chance to win incredible live and silent auction items.
The fun begins at 7pm in the Auditorium, Town Hall, Adelaide. Tickets are $200 or get a table of ten together for $2000.
All proceeds will go towards Fight Cancer Foundation's Back on Track program at the Women's and Children's Hospital.
This is the first dedicated education support program for children receiving treatment for cancer in South Australia, and is delivered in partnership with the Department for Education and Child Development Hospital School at the Women's and Children's Hospital, supported by TeamKids – Women's & Children's Hospital Foundation.
Learners with cancer who are absent from school for long periods often become isolated from their school and friends. Many drop class levels when they return to school and find it difficult to engage with their education. Back on Track enables learners to maintain their education and connection with their school and school friends. They are also supported by a flexible, individual education program that works around their illness and treatment, allowing them to resume their lives as quickly as possible.
Back on Track:
empowers schools to provide appropriate support to learners while they are absent from school and upon their return
supports a sustainable connection between families, schools and treating hospitals;
uses smart technology to increase the linkage capacity of learners, families and schools;
provides learners with educational and social support;
provides schools and families with information about sourcing and accessing additional educational resources and advocating for learners' needs;
integrates education into learners' multi-disciplinary care teams;
coordinates a range of educational support services; and
supports learners and schools during learners' transition back to school.
The education support programs provide the best opportunity for these students to continue to reach their full potential and take their rightful place in the community contributing to the development of our society and economy.
