The first time I heard Rebecca and Nathan was at the Alibi Bar and Cafe in Brunswick. Rebecca's powerful vocals she belts out so easily and Nathan's amazing guitar work grabbed me by surprise and held me in their magic throughout their performance. Rebecca draws in the audience with her easy, friendly communication style in between songs, and they are both happy engaging with their fans who want to stop and ask them about their music during breaks. Let's face it, they are easy on the eye, and add to that huge smacks of talent, and one can't help but be mesmerised by them.

Rebecca has always been musical, dancing and singing around the house from the age of five. During her primary school years she entered singing competitions at the Royal South Street Society in Ballarat and also at the Kingston art and culture centres in Moorabbin.

Rebecca's first job was with Jeanne Pratt's (of the Pratt Foundation), Production Company's presentation of 'Gypsy'. She has also performed at various gigs like the Footy Show and the Logie awards. Performing professionally both as a dancer and a singer, she was the assistant choreographer for the 2008 Commonwealth Games Opening and Closing ceremony. She has also worked with Chris Lilley ~ (HBO) Australian comedian, television producer, actor, musician and writer, Jessica Mauboy who needs no introduction, Brian McFadden , Natalie Bassingthwaighte and Flo Rida to name a few, as their back-up dancer and is a regular performer as a dancer at Crown Casino .

To quote Star Music , "she is the triple threat; singer, dancer and model. Performing is her life, the stage is her home and glamour is her middle name". I totally agree with them. As if that is not enough, Rebecca is also a song writer, at one stage penning and performing her originals with Nathan at the World Restaurant and Bar at Southbank, specifically for their Annual Easter Music Festival this year. This is an event that showcases original local artists.

Hailing from Perth originally, Nathan has also come from a musical creative family. His mother is a singer and still performs to date and his father was a drummer with a popular band in the '70s, gigging around Perth. Nathan's father is also a sculptor and artist hence its no wonder Nathan is so accomplished with so much artistry and creativity flowing through his veins.

Not resting on the laurels of his heritage, Nathan was taught piano by his father at the age of six, then went on to learn guitar at the age of 9. Once he had surpassed his father's knowledge, he went to a guitar teacher at the age of ten. He attended the prestigious Perth Modern school on a music scholarship, then went on to study at UWA (University of Western Australia) at the age of seventeen, getting his music degree four years later, which was performance based, playing in orchestras.

Striving to excel, he moved to Brisbane to do his Masters degree over two to three years, studying guitar with Isolde Schaupp who was originally from Germany. She is also the author of 'Classical Guitar Method' printed in 1985, which interestingly enough is currently selling on Ebay for ninety nine dollars as a rare collectors item.

While living down south WA, Margaret River way, Nathan performed as the warm up act at the Leeuwin Estate winery in 2005 for headline performer Sting . He also performed solo at many guitar festivals in Japan and Spain and with an orchestra in Singapore.

In 2011 Nathan formed a duo, gigging around Perth as Aires Linares, a lot of their musical clips still on You Tube. However the Perth music scene just wasn't big enough to grow for a dedicated musician like Nathan and he moved to Melbourne in 2014 and has been gigging with Rebecca ever since, performing at many places, including one of my favourite breakfast places that has great coffee, the Treehouse Lounge .

Lose yourself to some of their samples on Soundcloud by clicking here , and give yourself up to the richness of their performance. 'Like' them on Facebook to keep abreast of where they're performing next and treat yourself to the sounds of the dynamic duo that is 'Rebecca and Nathan'.
