Robots have always been a machine of intrigue, and the new flick, Real Steel, is set to step it up to the next level.
This movie is set in the future, when robots have overtaken the boxing ring and human boxing is outlawed. An ex-fighter (Hugh Jackman) named Charlie who has been involved in underground robot matches has always dreamed of making it to the mainstream boxing ring. He has to fight his way through circumstances and problems in order to make it.
This movie brings back memories from movies such as I, Robot (2004). The robots depicted on the big screen always seem to be able to adapt and evolve in intense situations, such as in I, Robot. and this new film seems to has some of the same elements.
Now if you are like me and are wondering what Hugh Jackman is doing in a movie like Real Steel, I guess going to see the movie is one way to answer the question. It's also a wonder how the movie makes Charlie the main character and yet an underdog at the same time, but his character seems to work.
Of course, Hugh Jackman isn't the only famous actor in this movie, but he is the most notable. It certainly has an underdog story feel to it, and the movie most certainly would fall under the category of a sci-fi action film. The producers of the movie have spent a lot of time incorporating both real and computer generated action, and for such a movie, they both seem to go hand in hand quite well. So for all those up for another robotic battle, Real Steel is definitely one to go and watch with your mates this October.
