In a world of fake news, there's only one fake source you can really trust: Real Live Fake News at the Anywhere Festival.

An improvised comedy show performed live at the ABC for one night only. The cast of talented improvisers will take you on a wild joyous ride of spontaneity and absurd fun. Improvising the "news" stories you really want to know about from Brisbane and abroad. From Kondo to Katter, the Real Live Fake News team will make sense of the news and world around you.

Making News Great Again! In Real Live Fake News We Trust!

Ben Keane, the creator and co-producer of the award-winning, Sci-Fi favourite from the 2018 Anywhere Festival Infinite Skies, which premiered to sold-out performances at the Iconic Sir Thomas Brisbane Planetarium, is back at this year's Anywhere Festival. Ben Keane and his cast of talented improvisers are bringing light to the dark side of news with a one night only production - Real Live Fake News at the Australian Broadcasting Corporation at South Brisbane.

In the format of a news and current affairs show, the team will be inspired to find the funny behind the headlines, through improvised scenes, songs or whatever entertaining thoughts come to the minds of these genius improv comedians. From the cutting-edge team that broke stories as "Bacon-and-egg-kid the untold story", "I love a sunburnt country; how poetry inspired Australian climate policy", "Full Leather Jacket; the untold stories of Turnbull at Milan fashion week", and "Milo On Ice-cream: an untold love story", the team will bring to life the stories that matter to you.

Ben Keane says "I was inspired to create Real Live Fake News, as I love keeping up to date with current affairs and news, but the news can be negative, or it can negatively affect your mood depending on what's going on in the world. This show is a way to help everyone deal with the reality of news, by finding the funny or looking at it from a completely weird perspective, or just taking your mind off things for 50 minutes".

Ben Keane's Real Live Fake News is supported by some of Brisbane's most talented and funny performers, comedians and improvisers who perform regularly on the Brisbane improv and comedy circuit with Big Fork Theatre and Impromafia, and have graced the stage at Anywhere Festival, Brisbane Comedy Festival, Bris Funnyfest, Adelaide Fringe Festival, Canberra International Improvised Theatre Festival and the New Zealand Improv Festival.

Improvised comedy and improvised theatre are great artforms which allows the performers to adapt to new situations on the spot and since news is ever-changing our show can look at current news topics of the time without complete rewrites because there are no scripts! Improvised theatre also allows the show to adapt very quickly to the audience's response during the show itself, so the show is curated for that audience and will never be seen again.

In the spirit of Anywhere Festival, the best place to do a comedy show about the news is where news is broadcast.

Real Live Fake News can be caught at the Australian Broadcasting Corporation in South Brisbane for one night only.
Friday 10th of May at 7.30pm.
