If you are a fan of TV shows such as Law & Order, NCIS, Criminal Minds and so on, then you will absolutely love the new series Real Detective.


Reviews on IMDB are stating that the television show is "Gripping, Dazzling, Great", and that it ticks all the boxes of an excellent drama series.

True Detective is a television series that is based on true events and stories relevant to the crime/thriller genre. However, it is about the cases that remain with the detectives long after the case is solved, known in the industry as the 'garden shed' cases. These stories can be hauntingly evil and you are given an inside look at some of the most heinous crimes and their, in my opinion, 'evil' perpetrators.

With interviews of the detectives who dealt with these crimes & fictional portrayals of the crime scenes and interrogations, the show is groundbreaking in its insight to the human mind. Set in the United States, where most of the crimes take place, you are given the timeline, the detectives recap and a silhouette portrayal of what happened. And with characters that will shock you, even like in the first episode, the man is known as the perpetrator but takes a sly satisfaction knowing they are unable to pin him for his heinous crime. As he states, "Knowing it and proving it, are two different things detective". The acting of these sociopathic killers will leave you most of the time with your jaw dropped thinking, 'How can there be people that think and do these kinds of things?'.

The television show is rated M for mature themes and violence. It would be suitable for persons aged 15 and over, however not suitable for children to watch. The show depicts some horrific imagery of dead bodies that may shock some people, hence the rating. However, for people who find these sorts of shows interesting for the psychology of it, it is manageable to watch. 'Real Detective' Series 1 is released on DVD on December 7 and the gripping drama will entice you, not only with the depictions of events, but the retelling and raw emotion of the detectives who unfortunately cannot live down these cases. 'Real Detective' is a fantastic, detailed must watch show in my opinion, so do yourself a favour and catch it on free-to-air television or pick up your very own copy of Season 1 from retailers nearby to you. You won't regret it!
