This is a poignant discussion of "the power of the written word during times of conflict." Presented and moderated by journalist and author, Diane Armstrong, the discourse of letters and communication received and sent during times of conflict will be read by relatives, friends and original authors.

Communication from the first and Second World War, Vietnam, Iraq, Afghanista, East Timor and more recent events on home soil - namely, the Matin Place Lindt Cafe siege.

From letters across oceans and continents, to modern iPhones and iPads, communication is now instant and how the story is told is still as heart wrenching as it would have been if news took 3 months to arrive. For some, the communication or knowledge of life or confirmation of death never came, versus instant images streamed across the planet.

This could be quite a talk and is worth making time for.
