Reaching for the Moon, a true story set in New York 1951, is about a famous American Poet named Elizabeth Bishop. Elizabeth Bishop, is a shy, lonely, American woman fantasising about Rio De Janerio, Brazil and what her old friend (Mary) and her lover (architect Lota) could do to help her poetry flow once more.

But instead of a few days, it turns to years, and a lot of changes occur, due to romance and politics. A beautiful film with laughs and tears.

Reaching for the Moon is a 2013 Brazilian biographical drama film directed by Bruno Barreto. The film is based on the book Flores Raras e Banalíssimas, by Carmem Lucia de Oliveira.

It stars Australian sctress Miranda Otto as Elizabeth Bishop, Gloria Pires as Lota and Tracy Middendorf as Mary.
