Raw Trader Cafe

Because Melbourne is renowned for its culinary sophistication, I knew it was sure to have a café that specialised in raw cuisine. I was surprised to find that there was actually only one such establishment in the CBD. The "Raw Trader" is located in a quaint Melbourne-style alley, on Sutherland Street.

The mission of the creators of the "Raw Trader" is to deliver healthy treats that offer decadence without the guilt. They aim to provide their customers with deliciously nutritious and tasty food. All of their products are hand-made on their premises with the utmost love and care using only the best ingredients.

The café itself was a beautiful and fresh space dominated by a wooden interior: a wooden floor, and 'raw' crates adorning the walls.

I was lucky enough to visit this charming café twice during my weekend stay in Melbourne. Both times I enjoyed the luxury of sitting down and enjoying the amazing food and the peaceful and calming atmosphere. On my first visit, I enjoyed a soy latte with a raw caramel slice. It was hard to believe that the rich caramel centre was made from coconut oil and blended dates. The smooth chocolate topping was made from antioxidant-rich cacao powder that was sweetened with maple syrup. This delicious and filling treat kept me satisfied for hours.

On my second visit, I was excited to find that their unique raw doughnuts were on display. I had seen these wonderful delicacies on the "Raw Trader" website and was keen to indulge. I certainly wasn't disappointed. I can still remember the amazing sensation of biting into the thin and crispy layer of healthy chocolate to discover the gooey, nougat-style centre. Again, this treat was created using totally healthy and raw ingredients.

There were many more amazing, healthy treats in the display cabinet of the beautiful "Raw Trader" café. When I am lucky enough to enjoy a visit to Melbourne in the future, it will be the first place I visit!
