The first Raw Till 4 Thai Festival was held in 2014, and this year's event is expected to be even bigger than the first. Excitement is clearly building as we count down the days to the beginning of this very special celebration of fruit, fun and healthy living.
Since last year's successful event, the fruit eating community has grown and is collecting more people every day. The festival was designed to appeal to anyone who is interested in vegan whole foods, environmental consciousness and living life to the fullest.
Some might liken it to the Woodstock Fruit Festival. However this festival has been created with a slightly different ethos, aimed at making it much more accessible to anyone who wants to attend. Unlike its counterpart, it is a free festival, open to all and located at varying locations around the Northern Thai city of Chiang Mai.
The city of Chiang Mai has remnants of its ancient past everywhere you go
During the last event, both locals and visitors from around the world attended - and this year looks to follow suit. Currently sitting at a full 3 weeks of fruit eating and exploring, you can enjoy the whole festival from the beginning, or you can arrange your schedule to join the fun in the middle or towards the end of the event.
The Raw Till 4 Thai Fruit Festival was created by popular couple in the high carbohydrate, low fat, high raw vegan community- Durian Rider and Freelee the Banana Girl (names that the two like to go by) . And despite the mixed reaction people have towards the couple, there is a large group who believe in the high fruit message that Freelee and Durianrider share.

Simply put, they advocate a vegan, high-raw, mostly fruit diet with an emphasis on hydration, frequent exercise, adequate sleep and mindfulness in our actions and how they impact on the environment, the animals and others. Freelee herself created the Raw Till 4 Diet after which the festival was named.

The community attending the festival is that mostly brought together by Freelee and Durianriders respective YouTube channels and their websites and forum.
The two selected Chiang Mai as the venue for the festival because of its great climate, laid back attitude, ease of getting around by bicycle and the prevalence of great food and cheap accommodation. There is a bevy of vegetarian and vegan restaurants in Chiang Mai and an astounding variety of quality cheap fruit.

An exciting component of the festival will be the opportunity to meet and learn from the founders. For many people, the couple have provided direction that has improved the health and vitality of many, and this is an opportunity for people to connect with them and others with similar values.
People from all walks of life will be attending and a quick look at the Facebook page for the event reveals that there is representation from around the globe, with a lot of people coming from Australia, in particular - the home country of the founders.
