Delicious food, fresh ingredients, mouth-watering juices and smoothies, heavenly guilt free treats. Are you salivating yet?

With the extensive list of tasty and healthy options available at Raw Energy cafes, you won't know where to start. Indeed my friend and I spent a good ten minutes pouring over the "fresh, fast and funky" menu. Now before you think here's another fad for vegetarians, vegans and hippies, let me tell you that I'm a proud carnivore, but more so, a massive fan of eating amazing, tasty food.

Raw Energy is about creating positive lifestyle and has been satisfying hungry bellies from Coolangatta where we were, up to the Sunshine Coast at Coolum and Toowoomba and in between where a new store is opening in the city on the corner of Edward and Mary Streets. Much of the menu can be enjoyed as dine in or take away which comes in handy for those on the run. The vibe is casual, with bright, comfortable plastic seating in an open shaded area, just a few minutes' walk across the road to Greenmount beach.

All of the food is made fresh on site with a jaw dropping array of cakes, slices and bliss balls also available in the sweet treats cabinet. What makes this business so successful is the friendly and helpful staff quickly serving up a myriad of mouth-watering menu options including gluten free. It is divided into breakfast including funky twists on classics such as the roast vegetable omelette and the latest craze acai bowls, lunch such as vegetable and pesto ricotta lasagne, meaty raw salad, and a delicious array of meaty and vegetarian sandwiches/wraps/burgers and thirst quenching juices and smoothies.

With the increased focus on all manner of confusing or restrictive diets, it's exciting to have an option that is healthy, scrumptious, satisfying, easily available and won't break the bank (averagely priced such as $7.90 smoothies, $12 sandwiches) that you can enjoy with family and friends.

My friend and I were so torn over what to choose we switched meals halfway to be able to experience both. The salad lavash was jam packed full of cool crisp lettuce, tomato, cucumber, grated carrot, avocado, sprouts and a macadamia lentil patty (she paid extra for). My lavash of pesto, roasted pumpkin, capsicum and Swiss cheese which I opted to have toasted, had so many flavours jumping around my taste buds I had to consciously savour each bite instead of wolfing it down.

The smoothies are large and packed full of fresh ingredients, practically a light meal on their own, especially my 'Brekky On the Run' with muesli, banana, strawberry, L.S.A, ice cream, milk, honey and ice. And whilst green may not be the most appetizing looking colour to drink, my friend's 'Green with Envy' with apple, pear, broccoli, cucumber, celery and spinach was smooth, sweet and refreshing.

Personally, Raw Energy is my choice when down the coast and judging by the line up, is for many others too. So if you are into a healthy lifestyle or just curious and with an open mind, definitely try it out.
