Ravesi's at Bondi Beach has been a long-time favourite of mine and I have many great memories that span well over a decade from fun times spent there. From casual lazy afternoons after the beach to glam Sunday nights dancing upstairs and many great meals on their enviable terrace. The views, the people, aaah the memories.

So it was with great excitement that I attended The Ravesi's Silver Skies 25th Birthday Party held on Tuesday October 14. It was a double celebration of sorts, with the actual building also celebrating a milestone, its 100th Birthday. Built a century ago by two Italian immigrants known as the Ravesi Brothers, this iconic piece of architecture has become a Bondi institution. No trip to Bondi is complete without a visit, if only to sip on a drink and people watch for a while.

Trying to beat the wild weather, we arrived a little early and headed on upstairs to the Drift Bar where the function would be held. Being the 25th Anniversary, Silver was the colour du jour and make up artists were on hand to glam you up in silvery sparkly tones. Although it was a stormy night and the normally open air terrace had the wet weather blinds on, the views were still spectacular. Let's face it, not much can dampen that view. The chefs were busy preparing the canapés, the bar was a hive of activity & service was speedy. Let the party begin.

Tonight we feasted on a canapé menu designed by Executive Chef Darren Elmes who served up a wide variety of fresh and tasty canapés that would not be faulted by even the fussiest of 5 star diners. The Oysters were extraordinary, the wild kingfish sashimi with blood orange and lime was refreshing, the salmon sliders, chicken dumplings and traditional duck pancakes were moreish, the sliders were delicious, the rice balls hit the spot and towards the end of the night, deliciously thin and tasty pizzas were in abundance. I know some dishes didn't make it past us before they were devoured time and again, however, I am pretty sure I was able to taste most of them.

The cocktails of the night were the "Bondi Passion" (Belvedere Vodka, Passionfruit Alize muddled with fresh limes and passionfruit and topped with Sicilian Lemonade) and "Raspberry Bellini" (Clover Hill sparkling wine and fresh raspberries). To put it simply, YUM. Not previously a cocktail fan, I am sure I will now be consuming many Raspberry Bellini's while my partner favoured the fruity freshness of the Bondi Passion. The wines being served on the night were Pikes Wines, Tyrell's Wines and a new addition to Ravesi's Bars, the Robert Oatley Vineyard Range as well as Heineken and James Squire beers for the blokes.

The music was playing, the food was sensational, the drinks were flowing and the beautiful people of Bondi came out in the rain to play and help celebrate this amazing venue. I have seen many changes to Ravesi's over the years and, like a fine wine, the place just gets better and better. It is a venue for all occasions, be it formal or casual with amazing food & drinks and even more spectacular views. With 12 boutique hotel style rooms also available, it makes a perfect stay or getaway option if you want to be on the doorstep of one of the worlds best beaches.
