Sovereign Hill's main street is turning a bright shade of red as "The Raspberry Rebellion" is brought to life with a school holiday program of fun activities. Visitors of all ages will get to experience traditional life during the 1850's. This year's holiday program is bigger than ever. Activities include the chance to become a Redcoats soldier, explore Hansel and Gretel's gingerbread house, decorate your very own gingerbread, enjoy a silly pantomime and learn the latest goldfields dance with the Sovereign Hill band. In addition, all of Sovereign Hill's regular activities including gold panning, three different mine tours, coach rides, candle-making, bowling and the full range of daily favourites can be enjoyed.

Children between 7 to 12 years are able to join the British Army's 40th Regiment on foot in Ballarat. In this special school holiday program, they will be introduced to the daily life of a Redcoats soldier on the goldfields. Children will be recruited, get their uniform and learn about camp duties, a soldier's drill, army doctoring and how the Redcoats fire their muskets. Book early, as places are limited.

Experience the fun of exploring the Gingerbread House from the tale by the Brothers Grimm. Why not stay and add some craft sweets to the cottage or to the garden. Lots of 'hands-on' fun to be had in an inviting woodland setting! Get hands on with the fun of making traditional gingerbread but can you resist eating it yourself before you give it to someone special. A small fee applies.

A firm favourite with young and old is Sovereign Hill's famous Raspberry Drops lollies which will be the taste on everyone's lips. Made on site since 1974 by Brown's Confectioners, visitors can watch lolly making demonstrations each day, and delight in revealing their red tongues after indulging in a raspberry drop!

Daily at 2.15pm at the Victoria Theatre, you can boo, cheer, sigh, laugh and cry to your heart's content at the Beauty and the Beast pantomime. It will be slightly different to the best loved fairy tales with lots of silliness, a good dose of slapstick, even the odd pirate and witch, to ensure that it's rebellious fun for children of any age.

Enjoy the sparkling melody and learn simple steps to Sovereign Hill's new novelty dance, the Raspberry Scottische with the Men o' the Hill band.

So, rise up and join in Sovereign Hill's 'The Raspberry Drop Rebellion' these school holidays!

Sovereign Hill is an easy 90 minute drive from Melbourne and there is free unlimited parking on site.
