A relaxed, family friendly restaurant for all ages
Rashays is a family restaurant, located in The Courtyard at Stockland Green Hills shopping centre in Maitland. It is part of a franchise chain of restaurants, with over 30 outlets across the country. It is a casual and relaxed restaurant that is designed for all ages, with a particular emphasis on families - with balloons, kids meals and Kids Eat Free each Sunday for members.
Our family first discovered Rashays whilst living in Canberra and we enjoyed it so much, that we were surprised and delighted when we stumbled upon it again at Green Hills. The restaurant was spacious, colourful, had lunchtime specials for members and delicious, comforting food smells emanating out of its doorway. We had to walk in to see if it was as good as we remembered...

As Rashays is a large restaurant, it doesn't matter whether you visit for breakfast, lunch or dinner, there will be a booth or table to accommodate you. The décor is attractive, with over-sized, woven pendant lights over the tables and an open kitchen, so you can watch the cooks at work. Greenery around the tables also added to the relaxed, comfortable ambience inside.

Just like the Rashays restaurants we had been to in Canberra, the customer service was an outstanding feature of this restaurant. Nothing was too much trouble. Every staff member had a smile on their face and after we finished our meal, a manager walked around and checked that we were happy with our experience. Our daughter was also happy, as we were positioned so that she could watch kid's shows on the large TV above the dining area.
The menu at Rashays is the same in all restaurants and it is huge. A good feature of the menu, particularly for kids, is that there is a photo of each meal so you know what to expect. We visited on a Monday (during the school holidays), so we were able to take advantage of the Monday and Tuesday $12 lunch deals for members. If you are looking for taste and value, you can't get much better than this!

We also ordered the Lunch Schnitty Burger from the Weekday Lunch Menu for $15 - which was also great value, with a soft bun, crunchy schnitzel, delicious sauce and chips which made us go back for more...and more.

Our young daughter was looking forward to getting an activity book on our visit, as well as choosing her favourite lasagne from the Junior Menu, which comes with a raspberry Twist & Drink. After flicking through the photo menu, however, she changed her mind to the Ryan's Red Pasta and it didn't disappoint. When it arrived, we were impressed with the size. It was more than what she could eat, but the taste was perfect for kids - tasty, but not over-powering. She has now found a new Rashays favourite!

Rashays is conveniently located near Hoyts cinemas and Timezone entertainment arcade, so it is the ideal family restaurant to enjoy before visiting one of them nearby. It is open until 10:30pm, 7 days a week, which also means that couples, friends and families can pop in for a decadent dessert after the movies. Choose from churros, waffles, cheesecakes, crepes, puddings, brownies and more - see here for the full menu.
Stockland Green Hills shopping centre had a $144 million dollar makeover in 2018 and the new Courtyard restaurant area has been well-received by the locals. It is modern, leafy and attractive, making it somewhere that you want to linger for a while. Although there are many more restaurants to try in the Courtyard, Rashays is a particular stand-out for families. Your kids will leave with a full stomach, a balloon, an activity book with crayons and a sense of calm, after enjoying a relaxed family meal. As parents, we can't get much better than that!
