Rakang. Amsterdam, The Netherlands: This really is the best Thai restaurant in the world.
It's been my all round favorite place since forever as I lived next door for a few years, and then was forced to cycle across town - it's never not been worth the effort.
Every time I go the food is just amazing (OK, so I admit that I cried when they changed the menu; luckily they'd always still do a vegetarian number 35 with pineapple), service and ambiance has been outstanding, actually above and beyond - I've felt like a part of their family and they've become part of my travels as it's the first place I drag my friends to when I get back, and they've hosted more going away dinners than you can poke a stick at.
What's really great is that you can have any dish on the menu made with tofu instead of meat, nothing pre-made just fresh and mind blowingly scrumptious. To be honest, I've been to Thailand, and they even outdo the food from there. All my foreign visitors have agreed it is the best, and I have no doubt that is the case (gosh I miss it).
