Raising the Bar is a worldwide initiative aimed at making education a part of a city's popular culture. And where best to do that but in a bar - 10 bars to be precise, spread across the city. The goal is to raise the bar on the content people consume with one of a kind, knowledge-driven events in unusual locations.
Having spread from New York to San Francisco, London, Sydney, Hong Kong and Auckland, this free event aims to broaden understanding and respect for Melbourne's diverse knowledge sector.
With topics ranging from how to think like a hacker, all you need to know about insect sex, fake news, jury duty in the 21st century and the cryptocurrency revolution, there is bound to be something that spark an interest and gets you thinking.
