Market stalls, face painting, auctions, fair rides and food
As the weather warms up we start to see a whole lot of festivals and school carnivals appear before the real heat of summer sets in. One of the best ones I have been to is Rainworth State School's Rainbow Carnival.
Held every year at Norm Buchan Park, Rainworth Road Bardon this festival has a huge range of stalls with preloved and new goods from clothes to toys, books and plants as well as great food (can't go past home made cakes and jams). There are always really good coffee and lunch options with a gourmet food stall, cafe and bar on offer. While you're eating you can watch kids from the school sing and dance up a storm in the Rainworth's Got Talent stage show. In previous years we have watched our neighbours' children perform dances they choreographed themselves and its wonderful to see the pride on their faces when they know they've done a great job.
For the kids there is a large array of rides from huge slides, bouncy castles, Frisbee, Hurricane, Dodgems, Superslide, Chair-O-Plane, Carousel and Mini Jeeps.
It's all for a good cause which you can remind yourself as you are bidding on the silent auction or the live auction which will take place at 2pm. From past experience I know that local businesses donate some great prizes from gym memberships, massage and beauty services, artwork, food baskets and much more.
There's always a lovely atmosphere and things for the whole family to enjoy. With weather like Brisbane is turning on at the moment there's no better way to spend the weekend than outside with your kids.
