The upcoming aims to capture stories and mementoes from South Australia's LGBTI community. Project Officer Jackie Wurm has been looking for ways to record and tell these stories. Jenny Scott, a retired Archivist, is assisting with recording, naming, scanning, photographing and identifying these stories, in liaison with Nikki Sullivan from the History Trust of South Australia's Centre of Democracy. This is a day of saving and storing Rainbow memories, which aims to increase the visibility of LGBTI histories and celebrate these stories.

Keeping and Sharing Memories
As people get older, some choose to downsize and pare things back through accident or design. As a result, precious mementoes are thrown away or packed up and lost to our history. Mainstream media, websites and books preserve versions of the history of the mainstream world but not much is known about LGBTI gatherings, activism, clubs and associations, families and families of choice, parenting, important moments and the LGBTI capacity to share and support or challenge and feud.

Start Preparing for this Day
To start preparing for this workshop, participants are asked to think about up to ten items (photos, flyers, sports trophies, banners, posters etc) that they would like digitised or photographed and about the stories that go with them.

The workshop program is as follows:
10.00am - Welcome; Why LGBTI stories deserve to be collected – Nikki Sullivan, Centre of Democracy
11.00am - Tips for archiving and storing for the future – Jenny Scott, Rainbow Hub Advisory Group
2.00pm - Capturing our stories in writing – Cris Davis, Chair, Rainbow Hub Advisory Group.
