As one of the gateways to K'Gari/Fraser Island, Rainbow Beach is also a destination in its own right. The central strip of the township has a number of cafes and restaurants, but one you can't go wrong with and with the best view is the
Rainbow Beach Surf Life Saving Club .

About Rainbow Beach
Just across from the southern end of
K'gari/Fraser Island , the area sees a lot of people travelling through it on the way to the island. Many people stay the night before jumping on a ferry across to the island. So whether you are heading to K'gari or coming back from the island you probably want somewhere to eat.

It is also the northern gateway to the Cooloola Section of the Great Sandy National Park. This includes the Cooloola Great Walk as well as one of the ways you can drive with a 4WD into the park.

Of course, Rainbow Beach is a nice place to visit in its own right. It has a lovely beach, and boat ramps to access the Great Sandy Strait between K'gari and the mainland or to head up the inlet to places like Tin Can Bay. For people making a quick stop in Rainbow Beach then
Carlo Blow , especially at sunset, is a must-visit spot.

About the Surf Life Saving Club
With a large capacity, views of Rainbow Beach and a decent but typical pub-style menu, Rainbow Beach Surf Life Saving Club is a popular spot for visitors to Rainbow Beach. Service is generally pretty fast, but if there is a sudden influx of patrons you might find yourself in for a bit of a wait.

There is plenty of seating inside, which is good when the weather is cooler, but personally, I think you can't beat the view from the deck overlooking the beach. If you expect the weather to turn cold bring a jacket so being outside is more enjoyable.
The Menu
The menu is pretty typical of what you would expect from a surf life saving club. There are burgers, pizzas and your standard mains, plus a selection of salads for people who want to eat light. The most popular option when by the sea is of course the seafood. If you can smell the sea then you know the seafood is going to taste better.
Seafood by the sea always tastes better
The menu does contain some menu options that do lean on the slightly fancier side, such as the Club Garlic Prawns and Rice as well as the Warm Seafood Salad. There are even a few vegetarian options as well.

Of course, places like this are amazing for their steaks. So don't let me insist you have the seafood if you are a red meat lover.

Overall
So the reason I love Surf Living Saving clubs in Queensland is always the view and Rainbow Beach's club has a great view. Plus the food there is pretty good too if not original. It is the spot to stop for a filling meal, a few drinks and the view.
