Get some goood Asian food in you
When one thinks of affordable places to have a decent meal on the Parade in the elite suburb of Norwood, very few options come to mind. That's why passing by Rain Modern Asian Bistro seemed to be a blessing in disguise for a hungry, poor uni student like myself.

[ADVERT]Rain Modern Asian Bistro is a well-known Asian restaurant that is situated in the heart of the Parade. It has a great sense of ambience and its staff are so respectable and friendly, one can feel like they're dining in little Asia.

Rain has an indoor and outdoor seating area, and is well-spaced to have either an intimate meal or a gathering of friends and relatives alike for the ultimate dining experience.

They have a range of items available to their patrons - chicken, beef, seafood, lamb, pork, and even kangaroo, thereby staying true to their Australian roots.

The decor is extremely classy and visually appealing to their audience. It is a slightly expensive place, but if you're a uni student like me, or simply on a tight budget, their lunch specials are the best way to enjoy a true Asian meal in style without hurting your bank account much.

There are two deals available to the patrons of Rain - a $13.80 lunch special that gets you an entree and main course (sans rice) that consists of noodles and soup options, and a $16.80 lunch special that offers a larger portion of the main course meals served with rice, along with the entree.

Make sure you go to this place on an absolutely empty stomach, because their dishes are not only whole-portioned, but are so delicious that they are bound to satisfy your hunger almost instantaneously.

For the entree, I chose to try the pork dumplings in both curry sauce and soy sauce. I'll admit, I'd lean more towards the option of soy sauce - it adds more flavour to the succulent dumplings.

Fear not, vegetarians, for there is an option for you guys - vegetarian spring rolls. This place has you covered.

For the main course, it was a toss-up between the classic chicken laksa and the larp chicken salad. This is why it's great to go with someone - you can try a bit of both.

The chicken laksa is a whole-portioned filling dish, and absolutely divine. It has a lot of veggies like broccoli, corn, carrots and mushrooms that complement the chicken and gravy very well.

The larp chicken salad may seem like a sparse option, but it is one that will surely satisfy that rumbling tummy.

There are dessert and/or drink options that are available at an extra charge.

Don't be afraid of these places on the Parade that look only fit for the rich - anyone can go to Rain and have a king's meal at a great price. You'll also be surrounded by waitresses with winning smiles, which is always an added bonus to an outdoor dining experience.
