Who doesn't love trains? They get you to work on time, they're a staple of country and western songs and they were of crucial importance in the development of Western Australia. Fortunately much of the state's rail history has been preserved and offers the opportunity to discover this heritage.


Railfest is an annual event sponsored by Rail Heritage WA and held at the Bassendean Railway Museum . The museum collection contains locomotives, freight and passenger carriages and the very popular buffet car, which will be serving afternoon tea. All the regular exhibits and displays are open with the added bonus of guided tours.

Special activities on the day include:

%% Lego display with Lego trains running.
The model railway club showing many sizes and types of model trains.
Swap meet stalls featuring model trains, magazines, timetables and more.
Children's activities.
Behind-the-scenes visits.
Plus much more...and don't miss this chance to have a famous railway pie.%%


All the fun of Railfest is included in the standard Railway Museum admission price so there's never been a better time to visit.



Parking is limited but the Railway Museum is just a short walk from the Bassendean train station and a free shuttle bus will be running as well.
