Want a great value city escape?
Hotel room

Recently I received an email from wotif an online company that offers discounted hotel accommodation, similar to need it now. They offer really cheap hotel deals at up to 70% off the normal rate. The email I received was for an exclusive 1 hour sale for hotels for $99 a night.

Bargain I thought, and booked the 4.5 star Radisson in Melbourne, on booking you need to pay, book a particular date with no changes or cancellations available.

After I booked and paid, I did wonder if it was particularly good value. Were we going to get the worst room in the hotel and what hidden extra costs were not advised when booking? Were we going to turn up and they not have any knowledge of the booking or worse was it only advertised for $99 because no one wanted to stay there?

view from the roof

Well, in my recent experience with wotif and the Radisson, it was faultless. The staff were friendly and professional, they even included a free in room movie, 2 drink vouchers, a discount on the buffet breakfast, daily papers and a little bag for our daughter with colouring pages, pencils and discounts for local activities; such as the aquarium, ice skating and so on.

View from our room

The rooms were clean and to be honest much cleaner than a five star hotel I stayed in last time. We had a great view over Flagstaff Gardens with the Docklands Ferris wheel in background and city buildings in the other direction. I loved the pillow menu, you can choose which pillow suits you best and house keeping will deliver them to your room (there are 5 types to choose from) .

Roof top spa

My daughter's favourite thing was the roof top spa which had great views, especially when it was dark and all the city lights were shining.

Buffet breakfast

The buffet breakfast had plenty of variety with, cereals, fruits, yoghurt's, hot meals included sausages, bacon, mushrooms tomatoes, hash browns. A chef was on hand to cook eggs to order and my daughters favourite, waffles!

After breakfast there are a variety of sweets to enjoy with coffee, such as muffins, croissants and danish pastries.

Breakfast wasn't included in our deal but we did receive a discount.

We left our car at home and went in by train, valet parking was $40 for 24 hours.

To sum it up, it was fantastic value, we had a great view, the staff were faultless with their mannerism and efficiency, the hotel is conveniently located and for $99 it ticks all the boxes.

I have to say my stay was beyond my expectation and extremely
enjoyable. I look forward to my next wotif deal at the Radisson on Flagstaff Gardens.

Have you had good experiences with wotif or need it now?
