November may seem a while away yet, but tickets are already fast evaporating for British alternative rock group Radiohead. Notorious for their less-than-generous touring schedules, Radiohead's return this November marks the band's first visit to Australia since touring for their album Hail To The Thief in 2005. They will play two nights at Rod Laver Arena, on the 16th and 17th of November.

Since their last visit, Radiohead have released two further studio albums - In Rainbows (2007) and, most recently, 2011's The King of Limbs. If recent set-lists are anything to go by, their live material can be expected to draw heavily from the more recent repertoire, but classics from the transcendental Kid A and Amnesiac period can also be expected. Long-time fans may recall that the band's last performance in Melbourne all the way back in 2005 was cancelled at the last minute, as the lead singer Thom Yorke came down with a throat infection. Fingers crossed that history does not repeat itself. Yorke's brittle falcetto voice is one of the distinguishing features of the band, and fans will be anxious to hear it in good health.

Just in case you've been living under a rock for a couple of decades now, Radiohead came to fame in the 90s as a stadium rock group, following the success of the single "Creep" from their first studio album Pablo Honey, and the subsequent popularity of their follow-up album The Bends in 1995. But it was 1997's Ok Computer that launched the band into experimental rock-God status - critics widely regard it as one of the greatest albums of all time. The brilliant yet polarising Kid A (2000) cemented their status as experimental icons but marked a further departure from their rock roots. More recently, the band's experimentation has led it into electronic minimalism with The King of Limbs - how this sampled, ambient music will translate into a live performance this writer can only as yet wonder, but I anticipate that it won't be disappointing.

If you're a fan, you probably need no convincing that this concert will be worth attending. If you're among the uninitiated, do yourself a favour and get a ticket. Find them here or else on the band's website .

Radiohead will also be playing in Sydney and Brisbane.
