Francophiles rejoice! A radio show just for you has arrived on the Downs. As part of its commitment to provide ethnic broadcasts that include information for all segments of the local population Toowoomba's Community radio station, 102.7FM (4DDB), has introduced its new segment, Radio France.
Radio France is presented by Michael Murtagh, an Alliance Française de Toowoomba member and language teacher. Michael, who is keen to get some feedback on the new programme would like to see the show become an ethnic broadcast that includes information of interest to all the community. In fact, he would like the programme to become necessary listening for, not only the local French-speaking population, but all Francophiles living in Toowoomba and the Downs.
So far Radio France has covered some lovely French music spanning the continuum that stretches from the 1970s to today. And, yet to come, several specials are planned that will feature Chansons Classiques, Musique du cinéma and a selection of Patrick Bruel music.
Michael is keen to give details about how many well-known English songs are actually taken from great French classics. He will also provide information on many of the different meanings integral to the wording and construction of these classics.
But the programme is more than music; it is about what the French-speaking (and Francophile) community wants so Michael would like to hear your input. So if you have any requests, suggestions and news from pays d'origine please send them along to Michael at firstname.lastname@example.org where they can be included in the planning for future episodes.
