Keti Sharif is an Australian Bellydance Performer and Teacher, who resided in Egypt, for 20 years. On her return to Perth, she set up The Blue Lotus Room in Morley, an Egyptian-inspired creative space for classes and performances. In partnership with Sam Nascimento, a percussionist, DJ and Arabic drummer, they are offering a range of dance and drumming classes.

A week-long intensive Bellydance Teacher Training will be offered in January 2024. Featuring a special guest instructor Kylie Morrison from NSW, live drumming by Sam Nascimento and musical guests if you're interested in music and dance this is a fantastic opportunity to train professional dancers and performers.

Participants train in an A-Z methodology, a teacher training course endorsed by Farida Fahmy, an Egyptian dance master. Developed in Egypt with live music, A-Z Bellydance is a somatic, cultural, and musical immersion into Bellydance techniques to create strong, wise teachers and confident performers. 

The pathway to becoming a professional dancer and performer used to be to go to Egypt and study with one of the top dancers in Cairo. Dancers could then gain work performing at weddings and other events around Cairo and other parts of Egypt. Today, bellydance training is often pursued by foreign women, who don't face the same societal stigma and taboo as Egyptian women who pursue public performance. The same level of training is now available in Australia.
