is a health food café, ironically located next to a cheesecake shop in Phillip, Woden. The suburb of Phillip is an industrial area, renowned for its streets of mechanics, car yards and trade shops. Amongst the industry there are a number of cosy cafes and food outlets for local workers to enjoy, as well as for people to pop in for a meal whilst waiting for their cars to be fixed. in particular is a stand out amongst the rest, for its healthy cuisine and eye catching slogan out the front of the store asking:
"Tired of eating crap?"
On a brisk winter's day, whilst in the area checking out some local
op shops , it was a good opportunity to pop into for a freshly squeezed juice and to cure the winter blues. With my sniffly young daughter in need of a Vitamin C boost, we walked inside and the colourful interior brightened us up immediately with its fresh décor and colourful displays. With uplifting and inspiring messages on the tiles wall behind the counter, you can't help but be impressed by the upbeat vibe of the café. With a friendly
"Good Morning" from behind the counter, we were starting to feel better already.
has a full
menu to choose from with breakfast served until 11:30am and lunch sold the rest of the day. There is also a display cabinet of sweet treats, protein balls, yoghurts, mueslis, healthy wraps and rolls. The extensive menu has everything you could want for a healthy lunch, as well as being able to customise your own Fit Meal where you choose from a variety of lean meats (in two sizes), vegetables, sauces and healthy extras. The menu was constructed in collaboration with a range of
personal trainers to offer a balanced and healthy menu for optimum health and exercise recovery.
is owned by a local brother and sister team who saw a gap in the market for a healthy cafe to eat after a workout, or whilst in training. Now open for three years, located opposite
Elite Physique gym, word has got out about its out its fresh and simple lunch items on offer - a good alternative to driving through the local fast food drive thru.
On our visit we were admiring the fresh fruit and vegetable juice station and looking through the menu, to see what healthy combinations to choose. There is a range of freshly squeezed juices which are full of natural vitamins, juice shots for a quick hit of goodness and several choices of protein smoothies to fill you up for longer. For an extra protein boost, the Cherry Ripe Protein Balls are particularly delicious and keep you full for hours - perfect for that 3pm slump.
Of course if you are in the local area there are a number of popular eateries to visit.
Whisk Bakery ,
Lava Cafe ,
Hansel and Gretal Café and
Wheat and Oats Boutique Grocer and Cafe are all good choices, however if you are after a particularly healthy lunch then you can't go past . If you are already a healthy eater, or if you are trying to get back on track, then this café is sure to inspire and get you moving in the right direction.
With no
"crap" in sight and the freshest, simple food to choose from, is an inspiring café for all to enjoy. Where else in Canberra can you get a free apple?
