With all the Sydneysiders travelling to the Canberra Fyshwick store of the same name, the owners made the decision to open up this second venture in Drummoyne. It has everything you could possibly want and just in time for Christmas with plenty of items that make for wonderful gifts.
All your wizarding wardrobe needs are met with robes for all occasions, Potter glasses, hats, scarves, ties, socks and slippers, most of which are emblemed with the Hogwarts' four houses - Gryffindor, Ravenclaw, Slytherin and Hufflepuff.
For your flying needs and that very unique field game invented by author J. K. Rowling, there's quidditch sticks and golden snitch heliballs. You may want to read up on the rules of play with Quidditch Through The Ages, available to purchase here, along with the Harry Potter book series and other good reads like Fantastic Beasts (the magical creatures of Harry's universe, which also come as boxed collectible figurines) and Harry Potter: A History of Magic.
For those that like an indoor game or puzzle, there's a Harry Potter-themed trivial pursuit, the Top Trumps Harry Potter witches and wizards education card game and a large range of jigsaws to entertain you for hours.
School needs are not forgotten either with Hogwarts bags, notebooks, writing implements, erasers and paintbrushes available. To keep all your books tidy at home, there's a very special set of bookends encompassing the Hogwarts Express (you don't need to be a Potter fan to want these).
Other items include lights and candles, cushions, aprons, bedding, towels, Hogwarts trunks, signs, doormats, towels and umbrellas. Shelves of mugs and drink cups abound too, as do fanciful cup and saucer sets, whilst key rings and plush toys featuring Dobby the house-elf and headmaster Dumbledore bring the cute factor in this shop of surprises.
You'll surely know what you'll want when you peruse the store but should you be purchasing a gift for a fellow Potter fan and can't decide what to get, then a Quizzic Alley gift card is the perfect choice. You can choose amounts from $20 up to $150.
But that's not all. Near the back of the store, there's a door and as your eyes venture through it you see a room full of treasures with goblets, gold and jewels. Yes, for those in the know, it's a small replica of the Lestrange Vault in Gringotts Wizarding Bank, and very appropriate for this building that was originally the Bank of NSW (which became Westpac).
There's a lot to love here, so if this alley is up your alley then be sure to check out this quizzical spot open every day from 10am, now until Christmas Eve (2020). After the Christmas and New Year holidays, regular opening days come into play, i.e. Weds-Sun, from 10am. Address and further info can be found below.
