If you buy your Mother or Grandmother a bunch of flowers from the supermarket every year for Mother's Day then perhaps it's time to try something a little different.

1. Look for a nice park on the Brisbane City Council website and take along a picnic hamper. You can order remade hampers from The Gardens Club or Holistic Hospitality .

2. Write down a list of reasons why you love your mum on a card or an illustrated poster.

3. Make her breakfast in bed and then leave her alone for the rest of the day to do as she pleases.

4. Plant an herb garden or rose bush in her garden with a commemorative plaque.

5. For adventurous mums purchase a gift voucher for Story Bridge Adventure Climb .

6. For the not-so adventurous mums buy them a book voucher or gift card from Angus and Robertson , or Avid Reader .

7. Buy her a personalised necklace off Etsy with a charm for each of her children or pets.

8. Record her life story on a video camera (research a list of questions to ask her online).

9. Buy a gift voucher for a beauty treatment, such as Beauty on Latrobe or Elle Bache .

10. Copy the best photos of your family off of Facebook and Instagram and get them printed out. Write the dates and names of people on the back of the photos and then place them in a photo album.

11. Make a flower bouquet out of crepe paper or felt (see Craftgawker for instructions).

12. Buy a gift voucher of her favourite natural beauty products, like Jurlique .

13. Show her how to use her smartphone or stream movies through her television.

14. Organise and pay for a housecleaner or ironing person.

15. Take your mum to the movies or an art gallery.

16. Take the ferry from St Lucia to Hamilton and back again.

17. Book a restaurant and have a three course meal with champagne.

18. Buy some aromatherapy goodies from Perfect Potion or a few bath bombs from Lush .

19. Spoil her with some new winter pyjamas from Peter Alexander .

20. Purchase one of the gorgeous gifts from by Occasion/Mothers Day Gift baskets.html Gifts 2 Remember .

21. Invite her around to your place for a barbeque and send her home with all the leftovers.

22. Go for a bush walk or swim in a natural creek somewhere you have never been before.

23. Order takeaway to give her a break from cooking. You many like to order through Menulog .

24. Visit her grave and clean it up. Buy some flowers to decorate the grave from Lilyvale Flowers .

25. Make your own bunch of flowers from wholesales florists like the Northside Flower Market or Brisbane Flower Market Then you can put some effort in to choosing her favourite types and colours.

Mother's Day is the first Sunday in May, so you have plenty of time to prepare a unique gift this year.
