It's been a long time since we have been to the circus. The queues were very long and the suspense killing me, or should I say it was killing the little ones. This in turn makes waiting for the circus next to torturous. However, I know that in a few minutes the kids will be riveted, on the edge of their seat and having a ball.

I have been to many a circus over the years and I can be confident that I will have a good (forget about the washing, cooking and other housework at home) time.

I know some people have an aversion to clowns, but I have no idea why. Their job is to make people laugh and they always succeed in my eyes no matter how corny the act is. The kids told their older siblings later that the circus did not have a clown. It did, but it broke the stereotype. No fuzzy hair or wide lipped make up for this clown. The clown was also the MC (not a Ring Master). He told us that rule number one was to have fun. That's one rule that was not broken today.

The MC told us that this show promised to be the best ever circus. The kids told me in the car that they were really looking forward to the fire dance (there wasn't one) and the acrobats. There were lots of these and they were incredibly talented.

Described as an eclectic and entertaining mix of Circus acts, is contemporary and awesome.

Internationally renowned Clowns, Jugglers, Acrobats, and other engaging acts made us gasp and 'hold your breath and hope' all will be okay. This is an international, non-animal show performed by young people with incredible skills, abilities, strength and courage.

The show is suitable for audiences of all ages and abilities. All venues accommodate wheelchairs. Here's some comments by my young companions:
%%'That was close, she nearly fell on her head'
'Now that's flexible'
How'd you like to be able to do that?'
And when one juggler bent over backwards and juggled behind their head 'He's just showing off!'
%%

The catch is that tickets are not for sale to the public. Tickets are generously sponsored by businesses and community groups such as Rotary and Opening the Doors Foundation and then given back to the community. The performance we attended was sponsored by Rotary Preston for carers, children from special schools, foster children and indigenous members of the community. There may have been others who received tickets who might otherwise not be able to attend.

Rotary seek sponsorship from local businesses who will be pleased to know that their donations put some joy back into the lives of people in the community who are less fortunate. This is just another reason to support Rotary and local businesses.

Now that I have whet your appetite for a circus fix, check out the many articles on weekend Notes with the keyword 'circus'. There are many reviews, for example, of Silvers, Nitro, Circus Oz, Circus Du Soleil and Perry Bros. Have fun!
