The Annette Gero Collection of Quilts made from Military Fabrics

A new exhibition of rare and unseen quilts of artistic significance.

Historical quilts with striking geometric patterns, exotic animals, biblical stories, and even the Venetian state galley are but a few of the extraordinary images you will see displayed in this exhibition from the renowned quilt collection of Annette Gero. Using brightly coloured military fabrics from eighteenth and nineteenth century uniforms these rare patchwork quilts were made by men. Some during military service and others sewn after the tailors or soldiers returned home. Through their fabrics even though the maker’s name has been lost to time they reveal service in the Prussian, Napoleonic and Crimean wars, as well as British India.

Including quilts acquired in Australia and internationally this exhibition reveals new and unseen treasures from the private collection of Annette Gero. An Adelaide-exclusive exhibition not to be missed. Accompanied by a new and extensive exhibition catalogue available for purchase.
