Bullsbrook and Districts CWA are proudly presenting the Quilt & Craft Show this winter!Held from 14 to 26 June, this exciting community event showcases the work of talented local artists and crafters, features a great line-up of interactive workshops for all skill levels and also raises vital funds for the Centre for Women's Safety and Wellbeing and the Cancer Council of WA. This year's display will take over the Bullsbrook Library and feature a wide variety of unique quilted (both modern and traditional), knitted and crocheted items.If you are inspired after viewing the display, book your place for one of the many hands-on craft workshops prior to 14 June. There's sure to be a workshop to suit your interests and skill level.
All workshops will be held at the Ethel Warren Community Centre, Maroubra Ave, Bullsbrook. See what's on below and book now to avoid disappointment by emailing [email protected] or by contacting Lynne on 0417 159 901 or Jill on 0400 031 156.14 June, 9.30 am - 12.30 pm: Hexagon Bag with Debbie Barrett Learn how to sew hexagons on your sewing machine and create a versatile bag to take home. Please bring your own machine (in good working order) with a new needle, machine toolbox, neutral thread and sewing accessories. A kit will contain requirements for the class. $25
14 June, 1.30 pm - 4.30pm: Foundation Piecing with Debbie BarrettLearn the basics of foundation piecing and then make a thread catcher to take home. Please bring your own machine (in good working order), neutral thread, a new needle and sewing accessories. A kit will contain requirements for the class. $25
15 June, 10 am - 12.30 pm: Needle Felted Garment Embellishment by Annette Appleby from ABA ProductionsDemonstration of felting techniques and guided independent work on your own project. Requirements for class include BYO garment to embellish. $40
15 June, 2.00 pm - 4.30 pm: Watercolour Workshop by Annette Appleby from ABA Productions: Explore different techniques with watercolour paints. Create some floral panels to make into greeting cards. Requirements for the class included $25
16 June, 9.30 am - 12.30pm: Card Making with MarionCome and have fun making up to 4 greeting cards whilst learning some basic techniques including stamping and embossing. Requirements for the class included. $20
16 June, 1.30 pm - 3.30 pm: Patchwork Basics with Helen How to cut fabric, safety when cutting, measuring with your ruler and not your board, Fabric warp and weft. Different weights of thread, sewing machine needles and different types of needles. Why you press and not iron with patchwork. Requirements for the class included $15
18 June, 9.30 am - 12.30 pm: Charcoal Still Life with LindaLinda will lead you through techniques of using charcoal to create your own artwork. Requirements for the class included. $20
19 June, 9.30 am - 12.30 pm: Felt Work Project for young people with Lodge You will create a small cushion or bag to take home using hand sewing techniques and add trimmings to your creation. Suggested years 10 – 15. Requirements for the class included $10
19 June, 10 am - 2 pm: Japanese Paper Making by Ingrid MulderIngrid has studied and worked at the Washi No Sato Paper making factory in Karasuyama, Japan. Ingrid's class is an introduction to papermaking using two different styles of Japanese sheet forming: Tamezuki and Nagashizuki. The class will cover moulds and deckles, recycling paper and plant fibres, sheet forming, hand beating, pressing, drying and decorative effects. $30
21 June, 9.30 am - 12.30 pm: Slow Stitching with Debbie BarrettLearn how to multi-layer fabric and embellish with lace, beads and decorative stitches. This will then be applied to a bag. Bring a thimble if you use one and any special fabrics at home you would like to use. A kit will contain requirements for the class. $25
21 June, 1.30 pm - 4.30 pm: Project Bag with Debbie Barrett The bag you make in this class features a clear vinyl front and extra pockets on the back to keep all your project needs together in one place. Please bring your own machine (in good working order), with a new needle, machine toolbox, assorted threads and sewing accessories. A kit will contain requirements for the class. $25
21 June, 9.30 am - 12.30 pm: Drawing an Owl with Carolyn FrancisCome and have fun learning to draw from this fabulous artist. You will be using charcoal and pastels to create your artwork to take home. Requirements for the class included. $20
22 June, 10 am - 2.30 pm: Lino Print Tea Towels by Annette Appleby from ABA ProductionsLearn the basics of lino print then apply your design to a set of 2 tea towels for your home. Requirements for the class included. $75
22 June, 1.30 pm - 4.30 pm: 3D Papercraft Workshop with Marion Learn how to create a beautifully decorated canvas using card, papers and embellishments. Requirements for the class included. $20
23 June, 9.30am - 12.30 pm: Pop Up Pencil Case with Debbie Barrett Let's make a fun pencil or tool pouch that can stand up on its own! This can even be used for makeup brushes or as a novelty gift. Please bring your own machine (in good working order), with a new needle, neutral thread, machine toolbox, assorted threads and sewing accessories. Requirements for the class included $25
21 June, 1.30 pm - 4.30 pm: Quilt Applique with Debbie Barrett In this class, you will learn machine applique methods on a multipurpose bag to take home. Please bring your own machine (in good working order), neutral thread, a new needle, machine toolbox, sewing accessories. Requirements for the class included. $25
