I like to participate in life rather than be a spectator. Music, dancing, theatre, travelling, food, cycling and walking are some of my passions. Writing is an enjoyable pastime that allows me to share my experiences.

Nautical Nonsense At Honky Tonk Fridays

A Darby Street music venue (image JW)
Regular music plays upstairs at the
Quill and Compass on Darby Street. The quirky decor of the downstairs area is dialed up a couple of nautical notches. To see who is playing and to keep up with their special events, check out their Facebook page. Usual events are
Honky Tonk Fridays and
Sunday Jazz Sessions.

There are plenty of interesting food options on the
menu and they do a Tapas deal of 6 dishes for $60. The stuffed mushrooms are delicious and the bacon wrapped dates stuffed with cream cheese have a retro feel reminiscent of '1970s' devils on horseback.

The drinks are great and the talented bartenders are friendly and passionate about their craft. The vibe is relaxed and happy and you will probably find yourself experiencing a style of music that you are not familiar with such as Kentucky Bluegrass.
