We are surrounded by the powers of mother nature's finest ingredients, so we may aswell make use of them. Here are 5 quick and easy DIY natural beauty recipes for our skin and hair care:
Potatoes for under eye bags
Place a slice of raw potato on each eye, which is said to work wonders on dark circles under the eyes. The chemical catecholase, which is found in potatoes, is commonly used in cosmetics to lighten skin.

Honey and coconut oil for dry skin
If your skin feels tight and dry, make your own face mask using runny honey and melted coconut oil (if you have some). Leave on for 20 minutes before rinsing off with water. The nutritional properties in honey are known to condition dry skin, making it softer and radiant. Coconut oil has been used for centuries, rich in many proteins, which keep skin healthy and rejuvenated.
Avocado for dry scalp and hair
Mashed avocado's mixed together with a little olive oil, massaged into the hair and scalp, both hydrate and nourish dry hair. Use as a hair mask by wrapping avocado covered hair in a towel, and wash out after 30 minutes, or use as a quick conditioner after a regular shampoo in the shower.
Almond oil for body lotion and nails
Rich in vitamins (B and E), almond oil is very nourishing and suitable for all skin types, also known to help relieve irritation, and itching. Pure almond oil is also used as treatment to soften cuticles, and strengthen weak and brittle nails
Natural body scrubs are simple to prepare, with no cooking required. Choose a brown granulated sugar, raw sugar is best, mix a cup of sugar with the zest and juice of a lemon or orange, and half a cup of olive oil (or coconut if you have some), pour and keep in an airtight glass or plastic container, that's it!.
