Introduction to

Located in the heart of Mudgee, a town in the Central West of New South Wales, (QBF) is one coffee pit stop that should not be missed when in the area. The original owners of the cafe came up with the "" as a joke, because no one could agree on anything - obviously, this joke stuck, because that's what the cafe is still known as to this day! "" is presumably from the widely known pangram "The quick brown fox jumps over the lazy dog" - for those of you unsure what a pangram is, a pangram is a phrase that contains all the letters of the alphabet, commonly used for touch-typing practice.


What is the ambience of like?

The QBF is a quiet little cafe tucked away on Market Street - it's the perfect place to relax with a cuppa and catch up with just a small party of friends and family, or otherwise, just enjoy being in your own company. In addition to magazines and books, the QBF even has a bookshelf of books with a range of genres for customers who want to sit down and bury themselves in a book, but perhaps forgot to bring their own, or perhaps wanted to read something they normally would not pick for themselves. The QBF also has on display local events in and around the Mudgee area that customers might be interested in attending.





There is both indoor and outdoor seating available at QBF, with more options available outside. The tables are generally small and cozy, with simple and vintage looking tables and chairs that give off a rustic vibe. Decorations are minimalistic and are simple in nature, which adds to the relaxed and warm atmosphere that the QBF invites. The outdoor seating has both 'regular' tables in addition to coffee tables, the latter of which would be the perfect choice for those visiting with little ones.




What food choices are available at ?

QBF does not do full-blown freshly cooked meals as such, but they do offer a wide range of yummy foods that are on display at the counter. If you're after something warm, QBF has sausage rolls in addition to several different flavours of hot pie, including angus beef, lamb & rosemary, pepper beef, and chicken & mushroom. They also have heaps of fresh salads, rolls, and sandwiches, with the option of having them heated should you want. QBF also caters for those with dietary requirements with vegetarian options available too. And of course, there are lots of sweet things to choose from too!






What drinks are available at ?

In addition to a selection of cold pre-packaged drinks, there is, of course, coffee! More specifically, QBF uses Gravity Espresso , a Melbourne-based company with "its feet well planted in local culture, yet its head in the clouds". Run by a small devout team of self-proclaimed coffee enthusiasts, you can expect "unrivalled consistency" from the roaster all the way to the cup, across all blends - 6º Darker, Zenith, XTC, Organic, and Decaffeinated. As they say, "expect sophistication in the mouth, coffee you will remember"!






How was the food and drink at ?

When I visited, I was merely stopping by for a coffee before I hit the road again for another long day of driving - but little did I know, I ended up getting a brownie too, because I just couldn't resist! The brownie was very generously sized, and was chock full of chocolatey goodness - it was so rich, in fact, that I felt content without eating the whole piece all at once. It actually lasted me the whole day - it made that day's driving much more bearable, with something to look forward to at each stop! The coffee too was amazing, the perfect blend of bitter and sweet, in addition to the perfect temperature that is neither too hot nor too cold. Couldn't ask for more really!
