Have you been wanting to know more about a different culture?Why not head over for a fun filled weekend at the Queensland Taiwan Festival on 6th-7th September?

The Queensland Taiwan Festival is part of the line-up for this year's Queensland Multicultural week. This event is suitable for people of all ages to enjoy and have great fun! Families with young children will enjoy riding the family fun rides for a good cause, as part of a fund raiser for St Johns Ambulance. You will also get to sample a variety of Taiwanese and Asian specialty food, with more than 40 food stalls at the festival. My personal experience of this aspect from last year's festival was really good and authentic Taiwanese food.

Also, you will get to learn more about the Taiwanese culture and experience their friendly hospitality. There will be two cultural performances by indigenous dance groups from Taiwan. Audience participation is greatly encouraged in these group dance performances, and is a great way to have fun while learning a new dance! Other cultural activities include Taiwanese traditional art and craft workshops, and partaking in the Taiwanese custom of releasing sky lanterns for good wishes. Wishes are written on the walls of the lanterns, which are then lit up and released into the sky. The glow from the many lanterns that are rising up into the night sky makes a really pretty scene for every spectator.

Lastly, the event will end off to a spectacular finish with a display of fireworks during their closing ceremony, which starts at 8pm on 7th of September.
