Impromptu adventuring, exploring our backyard and then putting pen to paper, hoping to entice you to try one, if not all, of our escapades, is my true reward!
Annual Queensland Garden Expo
According to the weather forecast, we're going to have terrific weather for the rest of this week and that includes the coming weekend when the annual Queensland Garden Expo is on from Friday 8 July to Sunday 10 July.
This is a gardening event not to be missed, especially for anyone who has a green thumb., whether you're a 'professional' gardener or just a 'newbie' wanting to 'learn the ropes'. With 35,000 annual visitors from Australia and New Zealand, this is testimony itself to this 'all things green' event!
Queensland Garden Expo offers three full days of free lectures and demonstrations from some of Australia's leading gardening experts; sensational landscape garden displays as well as a giant organic kitchen garden; floral design and a Gardens and Gourmet cooking stage. With eight 'live' stages every day, there is sure to be something for everyone!
Having plant problems or need to identify a specific plant, then the free Plant Clinic is your go-to place, where a team of dedicated gardening experts will be available to answer those tricky questions and give you free advice.
The topics being covered are immense but some of the ones I am definitely interested in are:
Frog ponds and habitat gardening
Living with reptiles (yech)
The magic of herbs in your kitchen
Toxic weeds of our Region
All things Bromeliads and how to grow them
The three-day program is bursting at its seams with offerings from 9:00am Friday morning (Gates open at 8:00am and close at 5:00pm), one would be hard-pressed to manage it all - but what an incredible way to spend a weekend!
Three day passes are available for $40 or a two day Weekend pass is only $30, with a special price of $16 for groups of ten or more; children 15 years and under are free. Tickets can be purchased online too.
This fun-filled family event is held at Nambour Showgrounds, Coronation Avenue, Nambour and is only an hour north of Brisbane on the Bruce Highway.
