The inaugural Queensland Beer Week is coming to a pub, bar, brewer, restaurant or home brewing shop near you from Monday 16 to Sunday 22 July 2012. And you don't have to be an ale aficionado or lager lover to get on board and ride the new wave of craft brewing. Everyone's invited.
[ADVERT]Queensland Beer Week is the brainchild of the publishers of The Beer Lovers Guide to Australia and Critics Choice - Australia's Best Beers. At the event's recent publicity launch at South Brisbane's The Fox Hotel brewers mixed with writers, publicists, restaurateurs and interested beer drinking amateurs like me in the ultimate embodiment of my favourite beer quote, "Wine is a lecture and beer is a conversation". And the conversation consisted of some very tasty samples from some of Australia's favourite craft brewers.
Beer really is the new black. No longer just the province of beer-gutted, stubbie-wearing ockers, these days your average beer drinker is just as likely to be attired in suits, stilettos or designer jeans and quaffing craft beers as an accompaniment to fine dining. Talented craft brewers are popping up all around the country, demonstrating the incredible variety of beer, and a whole lot of it will be on palate-pleasing display during Queensland Beer Week, along with food, tours, beer launches, beer-themed movies and home brewing.
