Something for Everyone

Queensland Ballet has launched its 2025 season and is now available online for viewing and early tickets/subscriptions

Their ballets will be performed both at QPAC and showcasing their beautiful Talbolt theatre at the Thomas Dixon Centre.

Romeo and Juliet 21-29 March

The season starts with a return of its 2014 production of Kenneth MacMillan's Romeo and Juliet. Expect to be enthralled by the romantic and passionate dancing of these star-crossed lovers while the tragedy of their feuding families, the Montagues and Capulets plays out to its dramatic ending. This favourite Shakespearian tragedy has stood the test of time and is beautifully expressed in MacMillan 2019s deft choreography. This is one of the must-sees of the season.

Triple Bill 27 June-5 July

Triple Bill is an exploration of ballet in all forms; contemporary, classical and neoclassical and showcases Australian choreography featuring three acclaimed choreographers, Natalie Weir, Jack Lister and Greg Horseman.

The program includes Natalie Weir 2019s 4Seasons, an interpretive dance based on the music of Vivaldi and Max Richter. The second ballet is a world premiere by Jack Lister, in collaboration with composer Louis Frere-Harvey and lighting designer Alexander Berlage. The final piece, A Rhapsody in Motion by Greg Horsman, current acting director of Queensland Ballet, debuted in 2022 and explores a dancer 2019s journey from daily practice as a novice to their maturation as an elite artist. Set to Rachmaninov 2019s 201cRhapsody on a Theme of Paganini 201d, this recognisable music wistfully undergirds the dancer 2019s journey.

Bespoke 31 July-9 August

This exploration of contemporary dance returns for its eighth season and will be performed in the intimacy of the Talbort theatre. Featuring premiers from Amelia Waller, Yolande Brown and Robert Binet. These creatives will take you on a spell-binding journey into new and dynamic ways to express emotion and story-telling through modern dance. There is a reason it has returned for eight executive seasons being loved by dancers and audiences alike.

Dangerous Liaisons 2 201318 October

As the name suggests, this is 201ca ballet for mature audiences, 201d which explores the scandalous Parisian life of two aristocrats and is based on the iconic French novel by Pierre Choderlos de Laclos. Expect to see seduction and betrayal woven into a rich tapestry of dance (choreographed by Scarlett), sumptuous costumes and sets (Tracy Grant Lord) and the recognisable and stirring music of Saint-Sa ebns. This may be the perfect date night production but leave the children at home for this one!

The Nutcracker 5 201313 December

On the other hand, this is the perfect entertainment for the whole family. This beloved production celebrates its 13th and final season in Brisbane as the snowflakes descend on the audience for one final time. All the magic of the production will be here; the squabbling children, the beautiful dancing of enchanting princes/princesses in a magical fairytale land of snow and sweets, virtuosic displays of cultural dancing and many cameos of fun, whimsy and frivolity. But this production is the last one so book early.
