Old Stuff Finds A New Life Under the Christmas Tree
It's often not easy to find that special something for family members at Christmas time, but with a renewed interest in everything old happening at the moment, you might just find a gift to be treasured at the Queensland Antique Dealers Christmas Selling Exhibition. On the 7th and 8th of December, the Association will descend on the Old Museum Building at Bowen Hills for two days of displays of antique goods for sale.
Displays will range from furniture through to crockery, toys through to jewellery - there is sure to be something for even the fussiest members of your family. Why not purchase a collection of beautiful lace table runners, perfect for any occasion, or mix and match odd bits of crockery to create a tea set which will be the talking point of your next high tea event?
For the special someone in your life, perhaps you may find a timeless piece of jewellery to be treasured, or for the avid writer a beautiful writing set which has stood the test of time.
Are you are an avid watcher of the Antiques Roadshow or Bargain Hunt and fancy yourself a little knowledgeable in the area of antiques? This could be your opportunity to find a real bargain of your own and make your fortune. With a wide range of antiques on display which are being sold by knowledgeable dealers, you can be confident of purchasing genuine items. QADA members have a genuine interest in educating novices in the field of antiques and ensuring that significant pieces are placed in established collections.
Parking is always tricky at the Old Museum, so perhaps catch a bus (Routes 370, 375 & 321 - Stop 7 is right outside). Otherwise you may be lucky enough to find a metered street park or you could use the RNA parking, but be aware that Stereosonic is also on in the Show Grounds that weekend so parking will be at a premium.
The Queensland Antique Dealers Christmas Sale will be open from 10am to 5pm on both Saturday and Sunday. Entry is $6 per person. Even if you don't buy anything, the sale will be a great opportunity to see lots of "old stuff" all in the one spot.
