Queens Park

So last weekend my partner and I took my 1 year old daughter to Queens Parks in Ipswich, we just wanted a change from the usual Brisbane parks (Roma, Southbank, and the rest) and we'd both never been there before so we thought, yes it's Ipswich but why not, let's give it a go. In all seriousness despite Ipswich's somewhat colourful reputation (and lets admit, it does have one) it really is a pretty little city (reminds me a bit of Toowoomba) and all my experiences with the locals have been positive, so I dare say that the reputation is now unwarranted.

Queens Park is in the heart of Ipswich city and actually quite sizable, there are many areas of flat green grass for kids to run around, (watch out for the ants though, one did bite me in the but, that will teach me for wearing sundress in the middle of winter). There's also a little playground and decent BBQs, although what's really special about this park is the Japanese Gardens, filled with bamboo trees, tiny Japanese bridges and even a traditional Japanese show house it really was quite lovely. Funnily enough my daughter slept most of the time we were there, probably to make up for the time she didn't sleep the night before.

I would definitely recommend everyone checking out Queens Park, I'm sure it would be the perfect venue for a BBQ, kids or Japanese themed party or even a wedding. For more information visit Discover Ipswich.
