To take in the most intimate and sublime views of Sydney Harbour is the place.

A relatively well-kept secret, the Harbour beach is a photographer's dream with a direct view of Rose Bay, the Opera House and Harbour Bridge.

The majestic views are topped off with the Gothic architecture of Kincoppal-Rose Bay Convent School and lavish mansions perched in the background.

The beach appears untouched by human hands expect for the well kept narrow walking track and stone steps, surrounded by bushland and is rarely occupied with more than a few visitors.

The foreshore is part of the Sydney Harbour National Park.

You can access the beach by driving to Vaucluse road, Vaucluse then to Queens Avenue. There is limited parking at the entrance to the National Park where a rocky steep path descends to the beach.

Before descending down the path on the left there is a rock cave that provides the perfect lookout to take some time to enjoy the view.

For the regal way to travel by sea, you can take a ferry from Circular Quay to Rose Bay. A direct ferry only takes ten minutes.

From Rose Bay wharf the waterfront path along the edge of Lyne Park leads to New South Head Road then walk half way up Heartbreak Hill and take a left to Bellevue Hill road. From there the picturesque Hermitage Foreshore Track twists and turns along the harbour to the royal spot.

Once you have arrived the beach is a good place to take a dip and is a good fishing spot.

The walking track continues along the harbour with low to medium intensity to Hermitage Bay, Strickland House and Nielson Park.

If you have build up an appetite from all the walking, swimming and sunning you can walk back down to Rose Bay Village Shops where there is a variety of cafe's, restaurants, a supermarket and take-away shops or to have a picnic, stop on the way to stock up on supplies.

If you would like to have lunch at one of the most beautiful and natural spots on Sydney Harbour keep walking to Nielsen Park and enjoy the Italian cuisine at Nielsen Park Kiosk.

Buses on Vaucluse Road can take you back home to Rose Bay or the city.
