With the Gold Coast Commonwealth Games due to commence on 4 April 2018, the Queen's Baton is fast making its way around the country, thanks to the many amazing people who have been faithfully carrying it safely around the world.



Although the baton has already been to Adelaide in late January, you still have an opportunity to cheer it on its way with its return in February, before the baton continues its journey towards Western Australia.

Community events will be held in conjunction with the arrival of the baton in the following locations.

Sunday 18 February 2018

Paringa – 7.53 am – 7.58 am – Murtho Park, 167 Murtho Road, Paringa

Food and drinks will be available to purchase from Paringa Bakery from 7 am and local entertainment will ensure you have a good time.

Renmark – 8.36 am to 8.46 am – Renmark River Foreshore – 73 Murray Avenue, Renmark

Coffee and breakfast will be available for purchase. Game Boy '18 will provide entertainment along with an active display by the Berri District Youth Club.

Angaston – 12.44 pm – 12.54 pm – Angaston Recreation Park, 60 Washington Street, Angaston

Celebrations will commence at 12 pm and run through to 3 pm. Local athletics clubs will be hosting activities for all ages and food and drinks will be available for purchase.

Glenelg – 3.56 pm – 4.06 pm – Moseley Square

Moseley Square will be alive with music, entertainment and sporting activities.

Adelaide – 4.45 pm – Victoria Square / Tarntanyangga

The baton will arrive at Victoria Square at 4.45 pm before commencing its journey through the city at 5 pm. The procession will weave through Rundle Mall and along North Terrace to Montefiore Hill. The baton will then continue to Elder Park and community celebrations will commence at the Southern Plaza of Adelaide Oval at around 6.30 pm.

Celebrations will include live music from the Australian Rock Collective and Runaway Weekend. Entertainment will include free face painting and jumping castles, photobooth, table tennis and giant bubble shows. Food trucks will be available and there will be heaps of giveaways.



Monday 19 February 2018

Coffin Bay – 11.44 am – 11.54 am – Coffin Bay Foreshore, 138 Esplanade, Coffin Bay

Celebrations will commence at 10 am with comedian and entertainer Sean Murphy as MC. Local band C'Change will provide music and food and drinks will be available for purchase.

Port Lincoln – 1.55 pm – 2.25 pm – Port Lincoln Foreshore, 68 Tasman Terrace, Port Lincoln

A community event will commence at 12 pm with live broadcasts by Magic 89.9 commencing at 1 pm. There will be face painting, balloons and free handwaver flags. Cocoloco catering and the Royal Flying Doctor Service will be providing delicious treats.

Penneshaw – 9.40 am to 9.50 am – Hog Point, 49 North Terrace, Penneshaw

Kingscote – 12.41 pm – 1.11 pm – Memorial Park, 15 Kingscote Terrace, Kingscote



21 February 2018

Aldinga – 9.15 am – Town Square, 11 Aldinga Beach Road, Aldinga Beach

Celebrations will commence at 8.30 with coffee and egg sandwiches available for purchase. Entertainment and games will be provided throughout the event.

Hahndorf – 11.09 am – 11.19 am – Pioneer Memorial Gardens, 84 Mount Barker Road, Hahndorf

Festivities will commence in Pioneer Park at 11 am.

Lobethal – 12.48 pm – 12.58 pm – Mill Square, 2 Woodside Road, Lobethal

The baton relay will be followed by a community picnic lunch (BYO) at Mill Square. Please note: no alcohol.

Stirling – 3.09 pm – 3.39 pm – Stirling Oval, 56 Mount Barker Road, Stirling

Come along and enjoy the free BBQ, lawn games, music and performances to send the baton on her way back to Adelaide and onwards to Western Australia.



Road closures will be occurring in each location during the baton relay and community events. Please ensure that you check the relevant location websites for further information.
