Quarry Views Hike

For those who prefer a steeper terrain (in comparison to the Little Quarry Loop trail), why not give a try. This is a one-kilometre hike around the top of one of the former quarries at
Anstey Hill Recreation Park . You may or may not know that quartzite was quarried here in the late 1800s.
Being high above the quarry bowl, you get a great view of the area as well as into the quarry. And, if you're lucky, you might even spot a couple of native birds and reptiles.
The trail is suitable only for walkers. It heads in a clockwise direction starting from the car park, which you can reach via Gate 1 just off North East Road. Riding is not permitted, however, a short shared road does make up one section of the trail towards the end. Dogs on a lead are most welcome.
With Little Quarry Loop and both beginning and ending at the same location, groups consisting of mixed abilities could easily be catered for. Each person simply chooses the trail that best suits him/her, and the group can still meet back together for a picnic after!
