Since 1995, Quandong Cafe has been a popular institution among locals and visitors alike. Stopping by to enjoy their famous quandong pie is a must whenever you're in the vicinity of this small township of Quorn. I found the pie to be rather delicious with the quandong adding a somewhat exotic flavour to its filling.
Now, you might be asking what on earth is 'quandong'. Well, it is the edible red fruit of a shrubby native peach tree commonly dispersed throughout central Australia. The Flinders Ranges is sometimes even referred to as home of the quandong.
The cafe also offers substantial breakfast and lunch menus which include eggs benedict, waffles, quandog, salad, bruschetta, croissants, yiros and much more. It is open every day of the week except Tuesdays, so be sure to check them out at number 31 on First Street.
