Not the Best Exotic Marigold Hotel but better
I loved the name; 'Quality Hotel Manor'. I had recently seen the movie The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel and teased myself that I had found one in Victoria. I checked their website and realised the hotel was in a great location, as many of Victoria's best tourist attractions, such as Kuranga Native Nursery, Puffing Billy and Renascent College, are close by.

I'm fortunate to live in Victoria but do tend to use quite a bit of petrol travelling around and on a tight budget, it can be both tiring and concerning for the wallet. I found this hotel as my son was graciously invited to an event in the region, so my thought was to treat myself to less travelling, but I ended up saving a large proportion of my stay on petrol costs alone. I paid a discount rate and decided joy was all about a state of mind and it was off to the Best Exotic Marigold Hotel ... ah humm ... the Quality Hotel Manor for me.

I loved the driveway up to the lobby. This was the start of my journey back to the 5 star Singapore hotels (in my mind). I was very pleased to be greeted by such lovely staff who offered me a discounted dinner in Natalies Restaurant. It was an offer I would have loved to have taken up, if I hadn't already had a snack at the nearby shopping centre, as the restaurant looked lovely. I booked for breakfast as, once again, the price was unbeatable.

The room: wow. So surprised that the decor was the updated set I had seen on the more expensive hotel sites. The Quality Hotel Manor staff explained they were in the process of updating their website with the new photos. There was a lot of room. Hotel photos can often be a little different from reality but this was better than shown two dimensionally.

I made myself at home.

An affordable hotel with, thankfully, updated decor.

I didn't indulge at the mini bar but I did check it out for you and for the quality of the hotel, the prices were really reasonable if you arrive late and the kids start hopping in before you can scream 'Noooooooo!'.

Mini Bar. Mini Prices

Now the bathroom. Breathe a sigh of relief. I checked this out thoroughly also and was very happy with the cleanliness, the quality of the products provided and the safety aspects also. It was quite large. I am unable to give information about wheelchair access personally, but the hotel has given this advice: there is one disabled room for wheelchair access and the restaurant is fully accessible also.

Clean Bathroom. Spacious.

As a mum, I was so in a state of rapture about having a very comfortable bed to myself which included the remote control to the TV that I didn't check out the bar. I did notice the clientèle in Natalies Restaurant, however, and took note of the range of people staying; sports teams, families, business people and singles. A hotel that caters for such a wide range of people is a special place indeed.

Breakfast: It was an all you can eat continental breakfast and the best part was the friendly staff who treated you like you were a five star guest. As a vegetarian, I was expecting less options but, once again, I was very happy and especially enjoyed the fresh fruit.

Breakfast Bar
A good range of Cereals

Baked Selection
These went nicely with the filtered coffee.

The Breakfast Table
Plenty of newspapers to go around.

In one night, I went from stressed parent to all smiles. It was a short walk from my room straight down to the secure underground carpark and my only regret was that I couldn't book in for the week as it was back to ... well, sight seeing before I left this lovely region.

Relaxed at last.
