Oh no! We've already missed last Friday's
FREE Lunchtime Live show at QPAC which, I have been reliably informed, was an absolute beauty by the
B.U.M.S. – please, no sniggering, that's short for the
Brisbane Ukulele Musicians Society. You've missed that one so don't miss any more!
The
Lunchtime Live shows are being presented by QPAC to help celebrate 30 years of wonderful entertainment. Make your way over to South Bank every Friday from 12.30 to 1.00pm and there'll be something different on every week, so join in and experience live entertainment in your Friday lunchtimes from 1 May until 13 November, 2015 and every single show is
FREE.
What you enjoy depends on which Friday you attend – make sure you see the lot and get over to South Bank and really enjoy every Friday. The shows have been arranged as follows:
On the
first Friday of each month you'll see the best emerging artists here in Queensland take centre stage for
First Time Fridays. Join in this experience and feast on some new and exciting talent as well as your sandwiches.
Then every
second Friday of the month enjoy some amazing
Classical Cuts performed by Brisbane's best orchestral and chamber music ensembles. The contentment you will achieve from the music will leave you feeling so relaxed and fulfilled you will even enjoy the remainder of your Friday afternoon at work.
For the technically inclined make sure you get over on the
third Friday of each monthwhen
Back of House shows take you to places in the theatre you've never been before with exclusive behind the scenes experiences.
Finally, the
fourth and fifth Fridays of each month are
Fringe Fridays. These performances dare you to be different and experience these programs of edgy entertainment in alternative spaces. Come along, because these shows are taking quirky to a whole new level – literally!
Another good thing about the
Lunchtime Live performances is you are going to enjoy the whole QPAC experience and feel the excitement of live theatre and it's all for
FREE.
For the next nine weeks the performances are going to be held at:
Friday, 1 May on the Melbourne Street Green, QPAC;
Friday, 8 May in the Concert Hall Foyer, QPAC;
Friday, 15 May inside the Concert Hall, QPAC;
* Friday, 22 May in the Ground Floor Bar, QPAC (Be prepared in case this turns into a long lunch!);
* Friday, 29 May on the Playhouse Green, QPAC;
Friday 5 June back on the Melbourne Street Green, QPAC;
Friday, 12 June in the Concert Hall Foyer, QPAC;
Friday 19 June in the Pedestrian Tunnel, QPAC; and
Friday 26 June in the Concert Hall Foyer, QPAC.
Venues for the performances from the 3 July until 13 November will be released closer to the date so keep an eye on the QPAC
website for program and location updates.
This really is an exciting event for Brisbane.
Lunchtime Live is South Bank's only
FREE weekly live performance offering. So, ditch the desk, loosen the tie and come to QPAC from 12.30pm Fridays. You'll be surprised by anything from a pop-up opera on the balcony to a circus folly on the Playhouse green. What could be better than spending your lunchtime chilling out to an ensemble's sweet sounds in the foyer of the theatre? Or, perhaps, listening to the director explain to you how and what things go on behind the scenes to keep everything going smoothly on the stage?
Bring your own lunch or pick up a
Grab & Go from a selection of delicious eats at the QPAC Café. The Café menu changes regularly and can provide colourful tasty salads through to freshly prepared sandwiches or something more robust.
This Friday you'll catch the country folk singer songwriter
Megan Cooper and the Pretty Pennies. Enjoy their eclectic, authentic and craftier storytelling, delicious harmonies and witty banter with sides of banjo, guitar and bass.
