Guinea Pig Refuge at Deception Bay
Guinea pigs are excellent pets- small, friendly, very cute and easy to amuse. The more you find out about them the more interesting they are. You can actually learn what their different calls mean. The first call you'll recognise is "feed me."

The down side to them is they are hungry, very hungry, and of course that results in an enormous amount of poo. So if you plan to acquire a cavy (the correct name) be prepared to spend money on good quality food and be prepared to clean up often. It is also vital that you buy at least two guinea pigs as they are very social animals and need company.

You can admire the guinea pigs awaiting adoption on the site. If you wish to adopt one of the cuddly little bundles you will need to go online and fill in an adoption application beforehand.

It's also vital to have a decent sized cage that is safe from predators. Check out this website to see the amazing mansions some cavies live in.

The QLD Guinea Pig Refuge holds an open day on the first Saturday of every month, the next one being July 5th. By attending the open day you have an opportunity to meet some piggies and see if this pet will suit you.

You can also shop in the store, purchase food and hay or have your cavy groomed. This includes nail trims, mite and worm treatment, bathing, grooming and clipping.

Other services offered are boarding and photography.
